Synopsis: During the course of a difficult divorce, a father must make some drastic changes after his children go missing, while they were visiting a remote farmhouse.
Everyone who has previously watched this film compares it to a bad movie that ruins a perfectly good marketing strategy. This film features excellent photography showcasing life in Italian villas and small towns. Moreover, the lead characters are exceptionally enchanting. Yet still, the plot is even more boring than the tissue paper story and the screenplay is quite shallow, Trevi Fountain shallow.
It’s a pity that no one had the opportunity to wish for something better than this.
There are no characters worth mentioning or even character arcs introduced, no subtext or themes barely explored, and a missing second act. Directors Steven Soderbergh and Anton Corbijn must be granted an audience upon their average works, for at least in contrast, there is that type of sophisticated work in Netflix’s Vanished Into the Night. What audacity people have to recommend this? Would sane a person want horror, suspense or even action sub-genre fans to see this junk? They orbit round absurdities and absolute devastation taking your time and your sanity withal.
Equally valid concerns might be raised in regard to the Italian Netflix thriller which had some favorable stars to it but how the final product was poorly developed and one can feel quite bad for the actors so to have acted in this unpolished venture. Cast for the movie includes Annabelle Wallace from Malignant and Riccardo Scamarcio who stars in John Wick: Chapter 2 in a film by Renato De Maria- Robbing Mussolini.
Tough to comprehend the rationale as to why the writers of the film Francesca Marciano and Luca Infascelli would wish their names in such a weak script written and directed by them.
Elena’s roles as a mother and a wife collapse when the reality of their lavish dreams sets in. A therapist by profession, She portrays herself as a short-sighted investment developer while never-ending debt looms in the shape of 2,50k euros of gambling. Despite that she was an experienced architect filled with endurance, love and patience. Making their split appear almost inevitable as a child’s nightmare. But, she soon learns the reality of her dreams.
Saving to make ends meet is what made them resort to opening a lodge in Italy but paying off creditors became the new reality, further shattering any remaining faith or hope this time again. Scamarcio’s efforts did not go unsupported. 3 million was invested in a lodge, which made them later resort to building more facilities, ironically increasing the debt even more. But to put that facade aside for now, we all know losing a child isn’t the same as losing a dream.
After drinking the last of his drink, he gets drunk and loses track of the football game he is watching. In the later hours, he abruptly realizes that he can’t see his kids in their room. They get in contact with the kidnappers asking for 150,000 euros. When Elena returned, she started beating up Pietro; this is when De Maria realized its time to intervene. He goes back to around his childhood friend time (Massimiliano Gallo) to find the money.
De Maria states that the primary purpose of her speech parts is to provoke the sense of tension and suspense in the audience, in particular related to the extent to which parents especially, for instance, Pietro in this case would go to ensure that their children are safe. In any case, it is a concern because there is not much tension that is created because it is obvious who the antagonist in this story is from the beginning and he is the only one with a reason to do what he is doing.
Such a concerned event as the mafia looking for their money or some bad childhood friends is simply a non-issue. The character decisions, for instance like, someone else doesn’t think twice of calling the parents of the children when they have been gone from home for hours, need to be defined in more detail. Another character is asked about the reason this was not done, and he says, ‘You ordered me to wait and not do anything.’
Then, there is the question of the second act there is no second act. There is one such compilation, and once you become aware of it, it becomes very clear who the bad guy is. Pietro is not put through any sort of grace under pressure, any of the subtleties of the story and its interwoven plot threads or indeed any climax. Quite simply, it is a greatly stretched first act who does indulge in any pretense of concealment of the motif because it is so very obvious.
The ending parts of the narrative in Vanished Into the night are, to some critics, quite the insult since they are so easy to comprehend and cut off neatly. The twist is rather huge and great and it is rather shocking to the extent that it is opposite to the strange and unsettling world of cinema as well as what the audiences desire. There is a twist but it’s very custom and, while i’m on about what’s a tad mundane, it’s absolutely contradictory to the world of cinema. The character meshing and the worldbuilding that must be remembered after watching the movie, sadly, isn’t brought to lif.
