“Glassworker” is a captivating anime, primarily a combination of romance and steampunk. It is Pakistan’s first-ever entry into the international feature film category of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and innovatively stands alone as a product of Pakistan. There is a significant history of both TV series as well as movies in the Muslim world. However, The Glassworker stands out for being loosely based on history and for containing all elements of a successful animated movie. The French-American animated movie ‘Persepolis’, was a massive success a few years ago and set a high standard. The film is directed by Usman Riaz while the screenplay is written by Moya O’Shea. Pakistan has always struggled with internal battles, and history tends to repeat itself. With that being said, the movie revolves around a false Victorian world that contains flying technologies, impressive soldiers on both foot and horse, and of course, the essence of true Pakistani culture, local djinns. It’s an anime-style film that brings a simple storyline to life by toying with our imagination.
The plot revolves around the apprentice glassblowers, who have since gotten married to ‘the’ daughter of the army officer of their childhood love lives. The ideology is built around Artists having to create” about the absence of nationalism and militarism in abundance. These are some of the many that Vincent has to crush in pursuit of Alliz. Caine’s family has been in the glassblowing business for five generations under the name of Oliver Glassworks. Caine meets Alliz when he is about 11 years old and at this young age he hasn’t yet blown his own glass but she has already begun learning the violin.
He makes a remark to his father Tomas that the rule of the house only allows him to use the kiln under his supervision. It is due to the fact that Dad is unnaturally keen on “What you NEED to learn about is making glass”, therefore such chances are that Dad is likely to allow it this time too Considering the home environment, which is completely logical, this is how
Liniya of Alliz and Vincent proceeds in the way of recollections. He is currently an acclaimed artist and today there is a solo exhibition of his work in the Crystal Palace which is in the Waterfront Town. Marie has not been in his life and contact for several years but she recently sent him a letter.
In their youth, they clicked and fought. She is the daughter of Col. Amano. In contrast to Father, this Kareda is fiercely opposed to the armed forces and any militaries at all. She is a skilled player by the time Kane encounters her. But all she does is “interpret” the actions of other people. In response,e he does not draft a design and then offhandedly states “Artists CREATE”. But they could offer not only to them.
As time passes, she develops a love triangle with Malik, who’s a classmate and now a soldier overseeing her father and actively pursues her. The position in which Vincent finds himself does not provide him with any chance to approach Alliz. Not to mention to profess his love for her, is out of the question.
The storyline is nice in theory but suffers badly from execution although the animation below the anime style, is largely impressive. There’s a lot of glass blowing involved search up the ‘best sand’ for the glass and such in the works. The parents didn’t agree, but this storyline was dropped even when it came to one of the main characters.
In their order, the design is retro steampunk zeppelins powered with steam, modern sleek airplanes but people walk or ride horses instead of machine use. The street signs and signage are only in English, and the voiceover was changed to Urdu with great optimism that the audience understood it was The Glassbower’s right decision.
The outcome of this feature film animation is challenging to compare the outcome with the work of studio Studio Ghibli or anime such as Howl’s Moving Castle and other shows as this is its starting point. And though the plot is very simplistic, it’s not poor even. Is it even possible that the impact made is of the strength required in the best-animated feature category? Most likely not, when movies of smooth sophistication like those of Disney, Dreamworks, and Pixar are competing.
But in fact “The Glassworker” is a product that has been very carefully crafted which shows in the Middle Eastern region too, there will be an animation revolution, and in any case, it will be found in the cinemas.
