Let’s put this straight Imagine you are a part of the group that has all cleaned the murder scene, and you stumble upon a bag full of money, what would you think you would do? The only time you should ever think that there is absolutely no chance you are taking the suitcase home with you is if you have less than a single-digit IQ, have watched too many action movies, or are as I said earlier, a lazy person.

But that still doesn’t refrain Siobhan (Melissa Leo), who co-owns the Good Life Cleaners alongside her employees Alex (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), his girlfriend, Megan (Ekaterina Baker), and Chuck (Swen Temmel), from doing whatever they want the moment they discover millions of dollars hidden in the chimney of a house they already cleaned.

That money was with Gabriel (Antonio Banderas) who was supposed to pay some dirty POLICE officers who were arranged before the robbery but it all went sideways when he got there and there were a couple of corpses instead. Then to add to it all it’s this mess these three are trying the fix. As expected the cash is with the policemen and Gabriel and both of them wouldn’t mind committing a couple of murders for it.

Matthew Rogers, the man behind the screenwriting for The Collective and The Survivalist, teamed up with Jon Keeyes, an expert in combustion combat since he mastered the “Doom Room” and “Cult Killer” production. Jon has beaten The Clean Up Crew to the punch and aptly describes it as “a lovely action sitcom bursting with fun and non-stop action” accompanied by unparalleled hilarity and I would consider this to be an accurate notion if I’m being completely honest myself. It’s fair to say that the film’s strongest selling point is its comedy keeping the drama to a bland zero and deep narrative never touching the surface.

But on the other side of that comedic banter lies the Italian mafia performance of Banderas alongside a few Machiavelli enthusiasts which is topped and quenched with the catchphrase that states “The only thing ‘little eccentric’ means is there’s no one to guess how far a simple thing can be twisted.” and finishing off with “that kind of power means to cross people, who are dumb but real.”

Alexander plays the counterpart to this role beautifully since he assumes the role of someone utterly out of context, Which enhances the performance of Megan as well as the other cast, bringing forth a situation where Megan finds herself kidnapped only to be able to play with a couple of other off-hand weapons.

The Clean Up Crew does not show much alpha and is perhaps quite nice for a low-budget film bearing a decent amount of action. Some may argue the film aims to be humorous, as it features parody-like scenes from The Matrix or even involves a split screen. But some scenes, like the last fight, we serious in nature.

With how the film is directed, Rogers and Keeyes’ comic actions seem reasonable, even when there is a need for seriousness and decorum. Even in the most absurd sense of humor, the actors never attempt to overly parody their lines. But more importantly, I was positively surprised by Swen Temmel, who, as I remember, was only playing some secondary parts, but did surprisingly well here. Actually, Matthew Tompkins, who had only a minor role in dominating Peter’s gang was also very good.
