Skeletons in the Closet (2024)

Valentina’s parents look rather cold and disrespectful rather than warm and loving. Skeletons in the Closet, directed by Asif Akbar, seems to have an illogical storyline, shot by a great cast with remarkable actors on the ground. I would rather say it has been filmed in a very good way but the output of the film is disappointing.

Despite this, no one looking for a casual good time will familiarize themselves with Skeletons in the Closet. To begin, the trailer claims to show a family that is in the middle of chaos, which should be original but is rather unengaged in other aspects of the movie that are supposed to make it a horror. There seems to be no mistaking what Skeletons in the Closet has been designed to deliver, while what Asif Akbar wanted to deliver in the beginning seems to remain unclear.

Valentina, the character that Valery M. Ortiz played, is a scrutinizing instance of a person who has waited storming a long rocking disease. According to her, such a situation always feels like either a curse or some vicious gift that she has been burdened with since childhood. She endures family deaths one by only and is left with her child and husband for support too they start to struggle when their daughter Jenny (Appy Pratt) is diagnosed with a disease and money starts to become a worry. Valentina breaks her faith and begins to think about venturing into territory she is not supposed to.

The movie Can of Worms, which sits in the drama category, appears to be a gangster and crime comedy film at first. As a result of describing a ‘bad’ crime, all the characters experience disgust. Instead of showcasing the characters as brave and composed individuals, the film encourages them to display cowardice. In large part, the plot is rather absurd in the beginning and comes off as cringe when it is compared to the end.

When viewed differently, Andres, as Cuba Gooding Jr, playing Mark’s ex-con sibling, further amplifies this whole ‘gangster’ aspect that seems entirely unnecessary for this horror film. Moreover, Mark, it isn’t like his character was underdeveloped throughout the film would have justified this subset. That in itself is almost always ancillary to the main purpose of the picture. Yet Akbar’s movies do feature such looser storylines, and there’s no exaggeration in saying that they come off as ugly, too. It’s like a soup that was made entirely by inexperienced cooks who couldn’t agree on what it was supposed to taste like or an excessive focus group that was trying to edit something that wasn’t even interesting enough for tension or showering the audience with cheap scares while remaining unsatisfactory.

At times, it’s tough to piece together what is taking place in the story, due to lack of character building, the script is poorly constructed where the characters come off as irritating and the acting is too overdramatic. The film has plenty of illogical opinions that suffice to say, don’t make any sense in the world. But despite everything, It’s still an interesting film worth watching in the end. There’s an extraordinary idea behind the film, script, and character design, unfortunately, a bit of improvement was needed for the direction itself.

More like monsters hidden deep within the closet Skeletons in the Closet is a horror film that I suppose applies to everyone, always approach Skeleton in the closet disregarding what is inside but never again open it.
