Visher (2024)

Visher is a low-budget horror movie filled with clichés. Running a little over an hour, it is quite short, which should please an audience that does not want to spend too long on a film. To my mind, Visher feels like a film that could have benefitted from being just a tad shorter, as there’s not a whole lot to the story anyway. However, the movie’s concept is rather genius. The directors and writers should be commended. I can’t recommend this to anyone, though. One of its strengths is its use of dark spaces, there are only two characters in the movie and while the settings are quite limited, it certainly makes things more enjoyable. Attempting to make it 65 minutes long tends to spoil the experience for the viewers.

Visher follows an Internet fraudster from India named Rahul Chakraborty or Hari who resides in Texas and suffers from being a paraplegic. The opening bit of the movie indicates that Hari is dissatisfied with his line of work and is rather unethical in the way he goes about his profession. He conceals his mother’s voice and fools one of the clients into paying him twenty thousand dollars for it. He takes out a small framed picture of Ganesh, I’m sorry for everything, it’s just for my family who lives in my country, he says as he looks at the figure.

It’s important to mention that he does not work on his own. He is with some sort of hierarchy and this contact and the financial profile of his assigned victim is sanctioned to him through a senior officer via phone call.

Thereafter, the second victim is scammed for $20,000 and the woman, Ruth, who is $90,000 worth by the way, is scammed after Hari sets them up using one of their bank tellers as an employee to make the introduction.

Hari is in search of love, and he finds Ruth may be suitable for him. Some sweet lies help him locate her easily and then proceeds to gain her trust to access her bank details. At this point, he has grasped the fact that there is also a virus on her computer. Now, trying to gain her attention, he claims that the computer has a virus and he needs to treat it.

In his case, Ruth is a part of his elaborate setup. As per Ruth all of her personal information is her images on camera lenses. To aid in the surveillance of Homes & Computers, there’s malware that identifies if someone has been snooping on computers or phones. It becomes very easy for him to reach any room due to his advanced security system. An entity inside him wants to tear himself apart, exposing to the world what he has been doing. And that’s why he needs precise intel, which could easily put an end to his actions.

Moderation, the remains of soaring, and hope all define Ruth’s home. Both smart and ruthless he is, but not at the same time. He has this disturbing feeling deep inside him that interrupts him.

He is really worried for her life and hence tries to contact Ruth one more time. Here, while talking to Ruth, I think, this man is under a lot of stress and is dealing with some aggressive manifestations of the paranormal and is actually taking measures that are reckless for his health.

Return of the Jason also illustrates that although people need to be careful about how they deal with crucial data, it is too simple to be a fraud. Both actors do their jobs well and Chakraborty does well as Hari despite being at times a disturbing person, a warm-hearted individual does appear.

Rubio too does not fall behind and her character has had enough baggage that explains the source of her troubles then and now and she gives a good account of herself.

As the drama unfolds the situation which along the drama is ultimately hilarious and even of a comic approach in this case with respect to the style of the characters that are on display and out of contempt for the whole event the viewer totally loses regard for him.

The end of the film is not good as it starts with allusions to the main character being a necrophilia because there probably was such a satisfying ending and it’s somewhat a relief to see the end credits of the film rolling.

Visher’s film is quite unremarkable, despite a few spine-chilling sequences that will fully engross most viewers. But for anyone wishing to gain further insight into the vishing method, Visher is inclined to help.
